Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This page explains what happens to your information when you use firstdayready.co.uk. The short version: the site uses cookie-free visitor statistics from its host, and only uses Google Analytics if you say yes.
Who we are
First Day Ready is a trading name of Marc Atkinson, UK. You can contact me about privacy at marc@firstdayready.co.uk.
Cookies and analytics
I use two analytics tools to understand how people use this site, so I can improve it. There are no advertising pixels or social media trackers. The fonts are hosted on this site, so your browser doesn't contact third-party font services when you visit.
Vercel Web Analytics (no cookies)
The site is hosted by Vercel, and I use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are visited. It doesn't use cookies. Vercel says it doesn't identify visitors with cookies; instead it uses a hash created from the incoming request, which is discarded after 24 hours. What I see is aggregated: for example the page, the referring website, the country, and the browser, operating system and device type. You can read more in Vercel's Web Analytics privacy and compliance information.
Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click “Accept analytics cookies” in the cookie banner, the site loads Google Analytics. It sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that help me see things like which pages are viewed, how people find the site and roughly how long they stay. If you don't accept, Google Analytics isn't loaded and these cookies aren't set. I don't use Google Analytics for advertising. Google processes this information as described in how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
Changing your choice
Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) for up to 12 months, so the banner doesn't appear on every page. It's used only to remember that choice. You can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; if you reject, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted from your browser. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
If you email me
If you email me, I use your email address and message only to reply to you. I don't add you to a mailing list, and I don't share or sell your details. I keep emails only for as long as needed to deal with your question.
Buying on Etsy
There's no checkout on this site. All purchases are made on Etsy, and Etsy handles your order, payment and download under Etsy's privacy policy. When you buy, Etsy shares with me the order details needed to fulfil it and help you if something goes wrong.
Website hosting
Like any website, the company that hosts this site may process basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver pages and keep the site secure. It isn't used to track or profile you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you. Email marc@firstdayready.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
